Transport Rack (#MTR)
Product number : MTR
The transport rack is designed to move large numbers of tires from place to place, or load them into a dry box. The transport rack is very similar to the shipping rack (MSR), but wider. The extra room holds more tires but makes it more difficult to manoeuvre.
The length of a 53-foot truck can hold 9 transport racks by 2 high (see photo C). They take 4 times less loading and unloading time than traditional wooden pallets. According to our customers, it takes one employee just 20 minutes to fully load or unload a 53-foot trailer. If the tires were loaded in bulk in the same truck, 3 employees would take 2-3 hours to do the same job. In addition, 2 transport racks can be moved at once (see photo C), allowing very large numbers of tires to be handled and saving employee time and effort.
The tires must be laced in the transport rack (see photo A) in order to make the most of available vehicle space or warehouse space. When lacing similar tires, space is actually gained from the volume inside the tire. Depending on the size of the tires, numbers vary from 60 to 90 tires per rack.

Fold-down tire transport rack
With this tire rack, forks can be engaged from any direction, each side being fitted with fork guides (see photo fork pockets) for stability and protection during tire handling. The ends can be easily folded down by a single employee. Leg wrappers (see photo fold-down system) make this operation easier and safer. Once folded down, (see photo B) the tire racks make maximum use of space for their return to the shipper, or simply regain 80% of the floor space used in the warehouse. Folded transport racks can be stacked 20 high, which makes it possible to load as many as 81 racks into a 53-foot truck for the return trip.
Transport rack uses
The tire transport rack is used mainly by tire manufacturers (Goodyear, Michelin, Pirelli) who ship large quantities of tires to customers such as automobile manufacturers and tire distribution centres, including logistics firms and shipping companies, who are also transport rack users.
The sender’s ID or a kanban card may be attached to the rack to facilitate the return of the tire transport racks. In the video below you can see a kanban card holder.

Stacking tubes
The 4 stacking caps on the transport rack are reinforced for greater rigidity when the racks are stacked open.
Fold-down system
The fold-down system is easy to use and causes no loss of transport rack rigidity. Moreover, it allows the racks to be stacked once the ends are folded down.
Fork Straps
Fork guides on all sides facilitate the job for forklift operators. Since the rack is very long, the fork guides improve stability when it is being moved by the forklift.
